User Guide

Kanak is a jewellery retail management platform for Indian jewellery businesses. It provides real-time inventory tracking, gold rate monitoring, sales and purchase management, customer ledger maintenance, billing, and financial settlement. Access Kanak entirely through your web browser.

Getting Started

Accessing the Platform

  1. Open your web browser and go to the Kanak URL provided by your administrator.
  2. Enter your email and password to log in.
  3. After login, you will see the dashboard with key business metrics and today’s gold rates.
  4. If you do not have an account, contact your business owner to get an invitation.

Common Tasks

1. Record a Sale

  1. Log in and click New Sale from the dashboard or navigation.
  2. Select or search for the customer. If new, add their name and contact details.
  3. Add jewellery items from the inventory — search by item name, SKU, or category.
  4. The system auto-calculates the total based on item weight, purity, and current gold rate.
  5. Add any making charges or discounts as needed.
  6. Select payment method (Cash, UPI, Card, Credit).
  7. Click Save to record the sale. You can print the bill from the confirmation screen.

2. Check Gold Rates

  1. The current gold rate is displayed prominently on the dashboard.
  2. For detailed rate history, go to Gold Rates from the navigation.
  3. View rate trends over the day, week, or month in chart format.
  4. Rates are updated automatically three times a day (morning, afternoon, evening).
  5. You can manually trigger a rate refresh if needed from the gold rates page.

3. Manage Inventory

  1. Go to Inventory from the sidebar.
  2. Browse all jewellery items with details: name, SKU, weight, purity, quantity, and price.
  3. Use the search bar to find a specific item quickly.
  4. Click Add Item to add new jewellery stock — enter name, SKU, weight, purity, quantity, and purchase price.
  5. Click on an existing item to edit its details or adjust stock count.
  6. Low-stock items are highlighted with a warning indicator.

4. View Customer Ledger

  1. Go to Customers from the navigation menu.
  2. Click on a customer name to open their ledger.
  3. See all transactions (sales, payments, purchases) for that customer.
  4. The current balance is shown at the top — green for credit, red for outstanding dues.
  5. Click Record Payment to log a payment received from the customer.
  6. Use Settle Balance to close out outstanding amounts.

5. Generate Reports

  1. Go to Reports from the navigation.
  2. Choose the report type: Sales Report, Purchase Report, Stock Report, or Customer Report.
  3. Set a date range using the date pickers and click Apply.
  4. Reports are displayed in a table format with totals calculated at the bottom.
  5. Click Export to download the report as Excel or CSV for your records.
